How it helps
-
Reduce human costs
Based on our data:
≈30% less periodic summer hive check-ups
≈90% less periodic winter hive check-ups
Instead of wasting time on some of the scheduled inspections, only come when you are needed. -
Minimize risks
Drastically reduce the chances of:
• losing a colony because of hunger, sickness, fungus, or rodents
• hive running out of space to gather honey
• getting a colony out of hibernation too early -
Grow the strongest families
Make sure your bees:
• always have enough food to grow stronger
• have proper ventilation for bee brood
• don't waste time fighting heat or humidity
• perform to the best of their abilities
Why it's better
-
Wireless
All hives hardware is designed to make honey gathering, hive extension, and other similar operations as simple as without using hardware at all.
Devices are efficient enough to live off of batteries or solar panels for at least 1 calendar year*. -
Inexpensive
Very competitive pricing. But also extremely low communication costs.
No need to pay for LoRa, no need to keep a SIM-card for every hive. One connection point for 2-4 km radius, that supports both GSM as well as Wi-Fi. -
User-friendly
Extra attention to making the product simple to use, even for people with little experience with technology.
A well-designed mobile application for both Android and iOS.
How it works
-
• Optional periphery devices like scales and counter broadcast collected data via Bluetooth to the nearby devices.
-
• Hives (main units) group their own monitoring info with data from periphery devices (if present). Then, they exchange the data with a Hub via LoRa.
-
• Hub, basically being a small LoRa telecom tower, gathers data from all hives in the ~2-4 km range, and exchanges data with BeeData Cloud via Wi-Fi or GSM.
-
• On a smartphone you can see the data nicely presented. You can manipulate the data, send commands, and receive important notifications about your apiary.
Device info
Hive
Gets installed inside the hive. Gathers temperature, humidity, noise, and a few other metrics, as well as all the data from periphery devices such as Scales and Counters that can be separately linked.
Scales
Gets installed under the hive and collects accurate weight measurements. Wirelessly sends this data to the linked Hive. Includes a physical display for checking weight on the spot.
Сounter
Tracks the number of bees flying in and out of the hive, as well as a few other flying activity metrics. Wirelessly sends this data to the linked Hive.
Hub
Gets installed anywhere in the vicinity of the apiaries. Requires access to power. Supports both Wi-Fi and GSM connectivity (GSM requires a SIM card and a basic data plan). Serves as a connection point between all the Hives in the apiary and the Cloud.
